Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, better known as GPT, is a family of language models that are trained on large amounts of textual data to generate natural-sounding human language, creating Conversational AI.
Simply put, GPT is the technology behind the scenes of an Artificial Intelligence tool that humans use to easily interact with technology, and the technology to interact as it were human. Behind the scenes of GPT iterations is a system of mathematical equations filtering information, creating a neural network. It then uses algorithms to find patterns in data and gradually trains itself (alongside user input) to complete tasks.
GPT-Evolving
GPT-3 (the third generation of the Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) was widely adopted for solutioning with Artificial Intelligence for machine translation, text generation, and question answering (e.g. Chatbots).
Recently Open AI launched GPT-4, which was build on the capabilities of its predecessor and provides a more advanced approach to Large Language Model Processing (LLMP).
What this means is pretty simple to AI solution creators - it's a newer release to assist with solutions requiring Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Understanding (NLU), and provides sophisticated and nuanced language models that can generate more accurate and human-like responses. For end-users of solutions that leverage this - it'll provide a smarter, human-like output that won't require a rocket science to translate it's answer.
What Does ChatGPT Have To Say About GPT-4?
Hopefully OpenAI's next step will be to train it up with more recent events!
